It’s been soooo long since I’ve blogged! Is anyone out there?
Well, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to pick up blogging again, since I always have so much to say.
I watched the movie Wanderlust this weekend and had an epiphany. In the movie, the couple had an argument that really made me realize something. The husband accused his wife of never committing to a career. That she has the luxury of doing something based on her current interest and then being able to switch to something else; all while her husband busts his butt at work to support what she wants to do (whatever that may be). I realized I’m the same way. I want to do so many things and I have so many interests. I’ve never stuck to one thing. I want to be a forensic scientist, I want to learn several languages and work for the United Nations, I want to teach, I want to write, I want to be involved in nutrition, I want to own my own company, I want to work for the government, I want to do too much. I’m 30 years old and I don’t have a career. I’m not doing something I love to do and I’m not even making lots of money doing something I don’t love doing. I’m not really doing anything that interests me.
After coming to my realization and getting the “wow that sounds so familiar” look from my super supportive boyfriend, I decided to start doing what I am really interested in. Even if it’s just a hobby for now. I’m still not sure what my career will be yet, but how great would it be to be able to turn my writing/blogging into a career? I can only hope.
For now, I’ve decided to revamp my blog. I have a lot going on in life and need a place to talk about it all. Considering my boyfriend is the one who has to hear everything I have to say, I figured keeping up with my blog would be better for him.
As part of my blogging, I’d like to also add a fashion section. Not high-fashion runway stuff, but more casual, chic, and classic items. I recently came across a website that shows you how to dress like a celebrity. I thought it was a great idea. Take a really cute outfit and find similar items to create your own look. Once I looked at the suggested items, I realized I wasn’t going to be dressing like Jessica Alba. Tank top–$136? Jacket–$810? Pants–$165? Hhhmmm… Score this really great outfit or pay the bills? Bummer. Too bad the family NEEDS electricity and running water. So as part of my fashion section, I’ll add lots of things I see in current magazines like People’s Style Watch and I’ll also research similar, less expensive items that us non-celebrities can actually afford. I started doing some research and hope to have my first post soon.
I’m also interested in having a Merchandise section. It’s time for me to get crafty and learn how to make a few things that I can sell. My daughter, Vanessa and I are currently working on a few things we hope to be able to sell, like household decorations, jewelry, accessories, baby items, etc. I’m not sure how long that will take so we’ll see how that goes. For now the only product I have for sale is my book “M is for Mom, Not Maid” (thanks to everyone who supported me on my first effort in writing!). I’m going to start working on D is for Dad, Not Domesticated very soon, but I’m not sure how long it will take to complete.
Be sure to visit my blog daily as I continue to work on adding new posts about everything and anything!
Until next time,
