What I’m Obsessed With!

I wish I could say that I’m so obsessed with working out, but that’s just not the case. I am however, in the beginnings of my obsession with healthy eating and food shopping.  I will scour the internet searching for recipes–all kinds of recipes:  healthy recipes, quick recipes, Vietnamese recipes.  I just love food and I have really grown to love cooking. The clean-up after cooking I could deal without.

Now, my obsession with cooking doesn’t mean that I am an Emeril Lagasse in the kitchen.  I am an amateur chef at best, but that doesn’t mean I won’t pretend that I’m some Food Network star.  I pretend like I know what I’m doing, but I’ll always have a recipe next to me for support.

My biggest obsession is not just with food and cooking, but more with HEALTHY food.  Eating greens (even yucky kale), eating more fruits, eating less gluten, cutting out dairy, switching to whole grains, and juicing basically anything and everything is what I’m obsessed with!  With healthy eating I’ve realized that you really are what you eat! If you eat the gross, bad, greasy, fattening stuff–well then you’re going to feel just like that.  Have you ever thought about how you feel after you eat Popeyes or McDonald’s or chips and cookies?  You probably felt bloated, sluggish, gassy, irritable.  But, if you eat the fresh and clean foods that are alive then you will feel fresh, clean, and alive–full of energy, just like the foods you eat.

Yum!!
Yum!!
Not so yum.
Not so yum.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there are times when I just have to give in and eat something that’s not so good for me.  I feel disgusting and guilty immediately after I satisfy my craving.  But, sometimes I have to give in for my own sanity.

I’ve found a lot of great information and recipes about healthy eating.  I have discovered that beet juice is Ah-mazing!

Beets have many benefits to the body. It is claimed they have the ability to:

  • clean and build the blood
  • lower blood pressure
  • improve circulation
  • calm the nerves
  • improve the health of the liver, kidneys, and bladder
  • clean the intestines
  • fight cancer
  • improve menstrual problems
  • cure anemia

Time to get a grocery list together and start juicing!
