My Daily Dose of Autism

Happy 4th everyone!! Thank you to all of those (past and present) who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice, for our freedom.

In honor of the 4th, we went to go catch some fireworks yesterday. I’ve been trying to push the envelope a bit with Carter. I want him to step out of his bubble. Even if it’s just his baby toe touching right outside of it. I don’t want to always say, “oh, Carter won’t like that” or “we can’t go because Carter will be difficult.” I feel bad because we do miss out on a lot of stuff because Carter can be unpredictable and I just don’t want to deal with the aftermath.

But yesterday, there was a fireworks show complete with live music and fun. I had a feeling that Carter would not do well because of the crowds and loud noises, but I didn’t want anyone to have to miss out. So we went and hoped for the best.

We actually couldn’t find a parking spot so we weren’t in the center of all the excitement. That was okay, though. We were taking baby steps anyway. Carter enjoyed the fireworks. That was obvious due to his “excited hands”

The pics aren’t so great, but you get the idea. There wasn’t a lot of noise or big crowds. Carter was still able to see the fireworks and we all had a chance to just hang out and be out of the house.

Good times.

We hope to get more toes out of the bubble soon!
